7th Day of Chinese New Year is Your Birthday

The Seventh Day of the Chinese New Year is known as "everybody’s birthday" (Yan Yat in Cantonese) as everyone was considered one year older as of that date. Individual birthdays were not considered as important as the New Year’s date. Everyone adds a year to his age at New Year’s rather than at his/her birthday.
Steamed Whole Fish
Serving the fish whole is a symbol
of togetherness of the family.

Fish (whole) - The word 魚 (yú), meaning "fish", has the same pronunciation as the word 餘, which is "remain or surplus", 'having leftovers of money', an increase in prosperity.
A medium sized fish usually just takes about
10-12 minutes to cooked in a steamer over medium high heat

Fresh Green Onions, Ginger, Cilantro
- essential  accompaniments to Steamed  Fish

Smoking Hot Oil, Soy Sauce, Wine and Sesame Oil
is drizzled on the fish after it is steamed

  2. That was a Red Snapper but any White fish is good - Bass, Yellowtail Snapper, Rock Fish, Tilapia, Trout and Halibut. I do steam meatier fish like Salmon and Mahi Mahi.
